Best books of 2016

You may ask yourself ‘What book should I read?’. Don’t worry, from time to time we all have a problem with finding something to read. I will try to help you with that and show some of my favourite books that I read in 2016. I made it my TOP 5. (It was hard but I did it, guys!)

5. The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon (@NicolaYoon)

This is YA contemporary romance but don’t let it fools you! This story is about much, much more than that.

The Sun Is Also a Star tells the story of Natasha and Daniel.
Natasha is Jamaican immigrant and we met her when her family is about to be deported from the USA back to Jamaica.
Daniel is a Korean American guy that has no idea what he should do with his life. He wants to make his parents proud but at the same time, he doesn’t want to be the person they want him to become.
Book takes place of one day and shows their time together. Both enjoying each others company (Daniel more than Natasha but well…) and dealing with their own problems while trying do the best they can.

This books not only tells about important issues but also is lovely written. Nicola Yoon is one of these authors that you have no other choice but to love. I had an amazing time reading it. There is a quote that I find really relatable because I live in the UK but I’m from Poland.

“For most immigrants, moving to the new country is an act of faith. Even if you’ve heard stories of safety, opportunity, and prosperity, it’s still a leap to remove yourself from your own language, people, and country. Your own history. What if the stories weren’t true? What if you couldn’t adapt? What if you weren’t wanted in the new country?”

4. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell (@rainbowrowell)

If I would only use 4 words I would say ‘Harry Potter but gayer’. This book is just so awesome! If you had read Fangirl you might now some things about Simon Snow and Baz. Just so you know Carry On is YA fantasy romance.

Simon Snow is the worst chosen one who’s ever been chosen.
Baz is Simon’s roommate and nemesis.
They both are students at Watford School of Magicks.
At the beginning of the book, Simon’s life is not exactly looking best. Baz is not around and Simon is sure he is plotting something. There is a villain and the chosen one needs to deal with him.

At first, I had a problem to read that book but after a couple of pages, I started to love it! It is just so good. I love the whole relationship between Simon and Baz. Everything that Rainbow Rowell did in this book was magic.

3. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (@cassieclare)

It’s book in The Dark Artifices series. It is set in Shadowhunters world. You don’t need to but I would recommend reading books by Cassandra Clare in the way they were published starting with City of Bones. Books are getting better with every next one. At the moment Lady Midnight and Clockwork Princess (the last book in The Infernal Devices series) are my ultimate favorites.

This book takes place after City of Heavenly Fire. (Book 6 in The Mortal Instruments series)

The story mostly follows:
Emma Carstairs, she is a shadowhunter  (half-angel warrior that fight demons)  that wants to get her revenge after her parents death.
Julian Blackthorn, shadowhunter, Emma’s parabatai, artist and protector of his sibling. He takes care that everyone is fine.
Mark Blackthorn, because of the part of him that is fey he was taken by the wild hunt, now he is return home, or is he?
The biggest problem with this book is that it breaks my heart.

‘ A parabatai is your partner in battle. A parabatai is your best friend. Parabatai can be everything to each other—but they can never fall in love.’

They can never fall in love… They can never, ever fall in love, ugh Cassandra Clare always finds a new way to crush my heart and leave me in tears.

2. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (@LBardugo)

I did talk about this book in my previous post  so now I will just say that this is a duology and there is already the second book called Crooked Kingdom which I would do a review soon.

1. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas  (@SJMaas)

A COURT OF MIST AND FURY! This book, guys, this book! All the feels! Sorry, It’s been some time since I read that but I still remember the feels. It is my favourite books of all time. I’m in love with Sarah’s work. She is number one author for me.

A Court of Mist and Fury book 2 in A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy. The last book will be A Court of Wings and Ruins which comes out May of 2017!

I will not spoil the book for you! If you had not read it, please just do it. I want to think about ACOTAR as a prologue because I did not enjoy it as much as I did the second book. It was fine of course but read and wait till book 2. Rhysand is everything.

A Court of Thorns and Roses is a retelling of Beauty of the Beast.
Feyre is a human huntress she takes a life of a Fey and she needs to pay for that with her own. She needs to go with Tamlin to the Spring Court.
